Here’s how.įirst off, head to the upper right corner of the home screen on your PS5 and click the Settings icon. The solution-or at least the temporary solution until Sony fixes this-is simply to turn off Rest Mode. Either way, Rest Mode is a problem PS5 owners need to be aware of. Others I’ve spoken with have had Rest Mode kick in during the middle of a game, which is even worse than what I’ve experienced. But here it is, simply going into Rest Mode and crashing. There’s a reason you’re not supposed to shut off your PS5 that way, after all. I finally was just trying to get some lead and entered my prawn suit when I lost everything. In worst case scenarios, your console could be bricked. My game would take forever to get in and out of my PDA, to get into lockers and any of my vehicles, (My Prawn and Seamoth) and it would crash several times in a day if I tried fabricating. So far, this hasn’t resulted in any corrupted data or lost save games, but this kind of crash is bad because it can do just that.

When it does finally boot up, it gives me an error message telling me that the console was shut off incorrectly (as though I’d unplugged the thing mid-game) and has to rebuild the database. I have to go over to the console and manually turn it on from the front power button. When I go to start up the PS5 again, pressing the PS button on the DualSense does.
